The experts’ committee report on the proposed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement will be referred to the new Cabinet, Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage said.
He told Daily Mirror at an interview that the committee had raised many issues regarding national interests and that answers needed to be found for these questions.
“I think the report will be submitted to the new Cabinet. The new Cabinet will be expected to make observations from the view point of each ministry. When asked about the MoU signed among Sri Lanka, India and Japan on the development of the Colombo Port's East Container Terminal, Prof. Colombage said the President was committed to honour it because it was an arrangement between the two countries. He said the policy of the President was that no national asset would be given in total control to any country. See full interview on A5. (Kelum Bandara)
