New alliance would be launched on May 1: Rajitha

The political alliance, led by the United National Party (UNP), will be launched on May 1 coinciding with Workers’ Day, Minister Rajitha Senaratne told Daily Mirror yesterday.

He said the new political party would be known as the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) and would have a collegial leadership of ten members.

“The 10-member leadership council will be chaired by UNP Leader and Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe,” the minister said.

Ministers Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rauff Hakeem, Palani Digambaram, Mano Ganeshan, Rishad Bathiudeen, Dr. Senaratne and Arjuna Ranatunga will form the leadership council. (Kelum Bandara)
