The government has not evolved a proper procedure to receive and evaluate appeals made by aggrieved parties for the Aswesuma welfare scheme despite claims by the government, Parliamentarian Chandima Weerakkody said.
He told Parliament that when he inquired from the Committee on Public Finance (CoPF), the relevant officials informed him that there was no proper appeal process for the Aswesuma welfare scheme.
"I feel as if we all in Parliament are Opposition MPs. I feel sorry that the government is unable to give solutions to the people's issues," he said.
The MP requested the Prime Minister to look into the matter and find a solution.
Weerakkody also said the government has not paid the allowances to senior citizens and disabled persons for three months. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
