Kekirawa United National Party (UNP) organiser and MP Chandima Gamage told a media briefing at Dambulla that whoever bakes the cake, it would be Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who had the icing.
He said the Premier would address meetings in the South after addressing the election propaganda rallies in the North and East.
The media briefing was held to make people aware of a series of meetings to be held with the participation of presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa on October 17 in the Anuradhapura District.
The MP said arrangements had been made to bring more people to the four rallies to be addressed by Mr. Premadasa than the number of people who attended SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s the rally in Anuradhapura recently.
Referring to a statement by Anuradhapura MP S.M. Chandrasena that no seat would be won by Mr. Premadasa in the Anuradhapura District at the forthcoming presidential election and that he, Mr. Chandrasena would resign from his post if he Mr. Premadsa wins a seat, the MP said Mr. Chandrasena would have to sit on a culvert after the election.
He said former president Chandrika Kumaratunga was ready to extend indirect support to Mr. Premadasa for his election campaign and that Gotabaya had voted at the 2015 election even without being a citizen. (Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa)
