One killed, several injured during clash in Mawathagama; Police, STF deployed

Kurunegala, Dec. 12 (Daily Mirror) - One person was killed and several others injured in a clash between two groups of youths at Pilassa in Mawathagama, Kurunegala last night, Police said.

They said the Special Task Force (STF) and police were deployed to secure the area in the aftermath of the violent confrontation.

The victim, a 28-year-old resident of Pilassa, succumbed to severe cut wounds sustained during the clash after being rushed to the hospital.

Two other people who were injured in the clash have also been admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested at least seven persons over the incident.

Initial investigations have revealed that a dispute between the deceased individual and another group in the area resulted in the tragic confrontation.
