One person has gone missing while four others were injured and over 12,000 people have been affected due to the landfall of the cyclone Burevi in the East Coast of the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
The DMC said no deaths had been reported. Also said a total of 12, 252 people in 3, 575 families were affected.
Fifteen houses were fully damaged while 192 houses were partially damaged during the cyclone.
A total of 10, 336 persons in 2, 911 families have been placed in 79 safe locations Mannar, Jaffna, Killinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Trincomalee districts.
Meanwhile, nine small or medium enterprises were also damaged from the cyclone, the report said.
The number of affected people district wise is as follows,
Mannar district - 7, 749 people in 2, 236 families
Jaffna district - 2,986 people in 829 families affected
Killinochchi district - 41 people in 10 families affected
Mullaitivu district - 1, 149 people in 405 families affected
Vavuniya district - 236 people in 74 families affected
Trincomalee district - 91 people in 21 families affected (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
