President's Counsel Maithri Gunaratne appearing on behalf of Ven. Gnanasara Thera sought bail in terms of Section 20(2) of the Bail Act (No.30 of 1997), requesting to release Ven. Gnanasara Thera since an appeal had been filed against the conviction.
