Over 1,200 kilos of narcotics to be incinerated

Colombo, June 28 (Daily Mirror) -  The local authorities are set to destroy a total of 1,208 kilograms of narcotics at the high-powered incinerator situated in Wanathavilluwa, Puttalam tomorrow.

This action follows a judicial directive from the Aluthkade Magistrates Court to dispose of the seized drugs, comprising 614 kilograms of ice, 581 kilograms of ketamine, and 13 kilograms of heroin.

The process will commence with the transportation of the illicit substances from the Aluthkade Magistrates Court premises to the incinerator site in Puttalam.

Located on 20 perches of land in the Lactose Garden area of Vanathavilluwa, the incinerator has been installed under the supervision of the Special Task Force (STF). The Sri Lanka Navy undertook site preparation, while the Sri Lanka Police allocated Rs. 6.34 million towards the setup, ensuring all necessary infrastructure and security measures were in place for the operation.
