Over 200 yr old De Soyza building collapses

The old De Soyza building, located on Malay Street in Slave Island, which was of archeological value, collapsed last night, police said.

The building is reported to have been over 200 years old and had been left abandoned for a while.

Police said the owner of the building had previously requested for permission to demolish the building but this was denied by the Archeological Department.

Police said no injuries had been reported but the area has been cordoned off.(DSB)
