The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into irregularities at SriLankan airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka submitted its 1,800-page report to President Maithripala Sirisena, former Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Neil Unamboowe PC told Daily Mirror today.
He said the report also contained a 900-page annexure and that the documents were submitted to the President by PCoI Chairman retired Supreme Court Justice Anil Goonaratne in the presence of retired Deputy Auditor General Don Anthony Harold and Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board Director General Wasantha Geeganage.
Mr. Unamboowe said in the report the PCoI Chairman had made certain recommendations and highlighted the main observations which were revealed during the proceedings.
The CID recorded statements from 560 people while 150 others had testified to the PCoI while it
covered matters relating to three companies, SriLankan airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka and referred to the infusion of capital, contracts, re-fleeting and cancellation, procurement, banking aspects, appointments of Chairman and directors, remuneration and the repercussions happened after the termination agreement between SriLankan and Emirates.
The President appointed the PCoI on January 31, 2018. It was headed by retired SC Justice Anil Gooneratne (Chairman) and comprised SC Justice Gamini Rohan Amarasekara, retired High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe, retired Deputy Auditor General Don Anthony Harold and Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board Director General Wasantha Geeganage.(Yoshitha Perera)
