PM leaves for South Korea

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left for South Korea early this morning to participate at the 2016 Rotary International Convention to be held in Capital Seoul.

The Rotary Convention will commence tomorrow (29) and continue till June 2.

The purpose of the Prime Minister's visit is said to be learning from the successes of South Korea in the field of information technology, a sector related to the theme of the Convention.

Over 50,000 Rotary members from 160 countries including leaders of several counties will attend the convention which is also due to be addressed by Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe.

International speakers such as UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, South Korean Prime minister Hwang Kyo-ahn and the current international President of Rotary, Sri Lankan businessman, K.R. Ravindran will also address the Convention.

Professor Maithri Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Saman Athaudahetti and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Sandra Perera will also join the tour.(Yohan Perera and Anjula Mahika Weerarathna)
