Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) ‘Tippu Sultan’ and ‘INS Vagir’ – a submarine of the Indian Navy arrived at the Colombo Port on formal visits.
The Navy said ‘INS Vagir’ is a 67.5m long submarine with a crew of 60 and is commanded by Commander Divakar S. It arrived at the Colombo Port this morning. The crew of ‘INS Vagir’ and personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy will take part in a yoga event at the Western Naval Command, on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga. Moreover, a group of personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy is expected to visit the submarine to take part in an awareness programme on its operational features.
Concluding the official visit, ‘INS Vagir’ will depart the island on 22 June 2023.
Meanwhile, ‘Tippu Sultan’, a Pakistan Naval Ship also arrived at the Colombo port yesterday on a formal visit.
PNS ‘Tippu Sultan’ is a 134.1 m long warship which is manned by a crew of 168. She is commanded by Captain Jawwad Hussain Ti.
Concluding her official visit, PNS ‘Tippu Sultan’ will depart the island on 20 June and is expected to engage in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with a Sri Lanka Navy ship off Colombo.(DSB)
