Parliament has passed 42 new laws within 14 months: President

Colombo, March 4 (PMD) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that Parliament has passed 42 new laws during the past 14 months, aimed at facilitating the economic transformation of the country, the Presidential Media Division (PMD) said.

He emphasized the importance of passing an additional 62 laws to further this transformation, indicating that if not achieved in the current session, they will be reintroduced in subsequent sessions. 

These statements were made during his keynote address at the "What's New" dialogue on Legal Reforms, a project initiated by the Presidential Secretariat under his guidance. 

The event, held at the BMICH, aimed to engage young legal professionals and recognize the significance of their perspectives in shaping new legal reforms.
