There were reports that some people who had organized trips and pilgrimages, are planning to leave the Western Province despite the police having requested people not to travel out of the province, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Police have requested public not to travel out of Western Province before the curfew which comes into effect from midnight today.
He said that only a limited number of people are allowed to enter or leave the borders of the Western Province.
"No person who is not an essential service member will be permitted to enter or leave the Province.
Also, roadblocks have been set up at the exits and entrances of the Western Province from this morning," he said. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
