Voters in Sri Lanka have respected and approved the ideology of increasing women reparasetation in elected bodies, NPP MP elect Nilanthi Kottahachchi said, a day after the National People's Power (NPP) swept the Parliamentary elections.
"Parliament is where laws and policies are compiled, it is also the the place which decides country's destiny where economy and its place among the international community," Kottachchi said.
"There was an ideology that more women should be represented in the legislature and in other elected bodies even in the local government level. The people of Sri Lanka has approved the ideology at this year's General Election and had elected more women to the legislature," Kottachchi also told media.
