The people of the country did not expect such a report from the presidential commission appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attack, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.
The Minister is seen as a close confidante of former President and Polonnaruwa district MP Maithripala Sirisena.
The commission, in its report, recommended legal action against Mr. Sirisena for neglect of duty.
The Minister expressed these views at a media conference at the Environment Ministry when journalists inquired regarding the allegations made against Mr. Sirisena .“I am not commenting on the Commission or the judiciary. But we as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party are deploying a team of our lawyers to conduct a full study in this regard. We will discuss this extensively at the party tomorrow. Following the discussion, the SLFP will issue a media statement expressing the party's views. The other thing is that this report is not at all what the public expected. We have a number of issues about this”.
