Police arrest three hospital staffers over assault on Onco Surgeon

Galle, Jan 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Galle Police arrested three minor hospital staff members including a female over the alleged assault on Krishantha Perera, the Onco Surgeon at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Police said the arrest was made during the investigations carried out on the basis of a complaint by the specialist doctor to the Galle Police on January 17.

Accordingly, a 52-year-old female health assistant and two 45-year-old and 43-year-old assistants have been arrested.

The Onco Surgeon who was alleged to have assaulted a female hospital staffer during a contentious situation that erupted at the hospital premises last Wednesday, was arrested and remanded till 22 January by the Galle Magistrate’s Court.
