Colombo, September 16 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Police said that legal action will be taken against individuals who share misleading videos related to the violent events, especially during the Aragalaya protests in 2022, for political advantage.

Police said that it has been revealed that videos of incidents which occurred in different parts of the island, such as vehicle inspections near the Katunayake Airport and footage from the May 9, 2022 curfew, are being recirculated on social media.

Police said that these videos are creating a false narrative by presenting past events as current events, thus misleading the public and potentially disrupting law and order.

They urged the public to refrain from sharing such unverified videos on social media.

Police emphasised that legal action will be taken against those who post content that could threaten national security.
