Political tsunami likely by end October to wipe off corrupt politicians: Hirunika

A political tsunami will be highly likely by the end of October this year in which all corrupt politicians will be wiped off, former MP and Head of Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya Hirunika Premachandra said today.

“I might be called in for an inquiry by the CID for making this remark, but this revolution is definitely going to take place by the end of October. The incumbent President will suffer the same fate as his predecessor when the political tsunami strikes,” Ms. Premachandra said in a media briefing.

Asked as to when this uprising take place, she said no one does it with a prior warning. One may recall that it was the women who played the key role during the last Aragalaya, will give leadership this time too,” she said.

Ms. Premachandra said the  days which the incumbent President is going to reign are numbered.

“It was the people from the middle class who took to the streets last time, but this time it will be the poor who will  lead the uprising,” she added

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Kavinda Jayawardene  who also participated in the press conference said  the government will be compelled to hold an election early next year as the present regime will last only this Christmas given the plight which some sectors including the fishermen. “Fishermen in the island , particularly  those in Negombo will take to the streets soon, therefore the government will be forced to hold an election before long,” he said.
