Parliamentarian Daina Gamage today proposed that a motion should be passed with a two-thirds majority in Parliament to extend the term of the President by two more years claiming that the President had lost two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She told Parliament that the term of the Parliament should also be extended by two years.
Speaking during the adjournment debate on the President's policy statement, she said Expressway network in the country could have been completed unless the two years were wasted due to the pandemic.
She said the world has been affected due to this global pandemic adding that queues for food and fuel were reported in Australia and the USA and that cost of food had also gone up in those countries.
