Prisoner escapes from Kalutara Malwatta Prison

Colombo, May 30 (Daily Mirror) - A prisoner from Kalutara Malwatta Prison, serving time for a drug-related offense, escaped this afternoon, according to prison sources.

The escapee, identified as a resident of the Ingiriya area, reportedly fled while cleaning an official house within the prison grounds. 

Authorities suspect that he made his way into the forested area behind the prison in Malwatta.

Prison officials are currently conducting a search operation to apprehend the escaped prisoner.
