Jaffna Police have reported the death of a 42-year-old inmate of the Jaffna prison, K. Pushpa, who died after being admitted to the Jaffna Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Pushpa was a resident of the Ramanadapuram, Wattakachchi area.
Following the incident, Jaffna District Senior Superintendent of Police Suriyabandara has instructed further investigations.
The inquiry is led by Chief Inspector Chamli Palihena, OIC of the Jaffna Police and Deputy Inspector Indika Abeygunasekara from the Criminal Investigation Department.
