While the curfew remains in force round the clock countrywide today and tomorrow (25, 26) until 5.00 am on Monday (27), DIG Ajith Rohana said the violators of curfew regulations would be dealt with strictly and charged under the Quarantine Disease Prevention Ordinance (QDPO).
DIG Rohana said 666 individuals had been arrested and 183 vehicles detained yesterday, for violating the curfew. Altogether over 35,000 men and women remained in custody for the offence since March 20.
All vehicles venturing out during curfew will be confiscated he stated.
We have ordered all police officers to check not only main roads but also by-roads, lanes and footpaths and arrest anyone breaking the curfew, DIG Rohana stressed.
