Rajagiriya accident: Police will decide after examining CCTV visuals

Police today told Colombo Traffic Court Magistrate that they would decide whether Minister Champika Ranawaka should be made a suspect in the accident that injured Sandeep Sampath, a motorcyclist at Rajagiriya after examining the CCTV visuals.

They also said that according to the phone call of details of the Minister’s phone on February 28, the Minister’s driver, who was said to have driven the vehicle, had communicated with the Minister several times and the Police were further investigating on that.

These were informed to the Magistrate by the Welikada Police, who are jointly conducting investigations with the Padukka Police ASP, on the direction of former IGP N.K. Illangakoon.

The vehicle of Mega Polis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka met with an accident at Rajagiriya with a motorcycle. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
