The first meeting of the Retired Police Collective of the National People's Power (NPP) was held at the National Youth Council in Maharagama.
Speaking at the meeting, Retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne said he had to face various pressures forcing him not to join the NPP and that he was threatened with having to face repercussions.
NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said both Government and Opposition factions have threatened Ravi Seneviratne not to join the NPP and added that investigations have been launched against him on baseless allegations.
He also said that under an NPP government, justice will be meted out to former Director of Criminal Investigation Department Shani Abeysekara, who has faced political victimisation and injustice.
