Colombo (Daily Mirror) - The Grama Niladhari Officers' Union requests the public not to provide any information to officers who visit homes for the census without the presence of a Grama Niladhari.

Neville Wijeratne, the national organizer of the union, highlighted that the census work has commenced recently, despite the absence of all Grama Niladhari officers from the census activities.

He emphasized that the census activities had begun without the involvement of village officials, and highlighted the unresolved issues that had arisen during the collection of information for the Aswesuma programme without Grama Niladhari officers.

“Given the current circumstances, conducting the census without the participation of Grama Niladhari officers may lead to further issues,” he added.
