Royal College opted to declare their first innings in the 144th Battle of the Blues encounter against S. Thomas' College on their overnight score of 326 for 8, before taking a wicket to edge the early exchanges on day two.
The Thomians were 11/1 after 5 overs with Senadi Bulankulame and Dineth Gunawardena at the crease.
Bulan Weeratunga claimed the early wicket when he bounced out Thisen Eheliyagoda for five.
Yesterday, Royal captain Dasis Manchanayake and Ramiru Perera slammed tons as the pair came to the rescue of Royal College and in the process established a new fifth-wicket record for the encounter.
The pair sent the Thomian bowlers on a leather hunt with Manchanayake making 137 in 150 balls inclusive of 17 boundaries and Perera scoring 128 in 186 balls which included 15 boundaries and two sixes for Royal to end the first day’s play on 326 for 8.
