Ruhunu University lecturer arrested for brutalizing adopted girl

Matara, Dec 18 (Daily Mirror) - A lecturer from the Ruhunu University Faculty of Technology has been arrested by the Matara Division Children's and Women's Bureau in connection with the brutalization of a five-and-a-half-year-old girl he had adopted.

An investigation was initiated following information received by the police last Friday, indicating that the lecturer had subjected the girl to abuse within his official residence. 

Accordingly, the suspect was taken into custody by the police.

Police said the girl was produced before the Judicial Medical Officer for examination.
