SJB MPs request Cardinal to intervene and resolve present crises

A group of MPs who met Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith at the Bishop's House today have requested him to intervene in resolving the issues faced by the fishing community presently.

SJB MP Kavinda Jayawardena who led the SJB delegation told Daily Mirror that he and others wanted the Cardinal to brief the government on the problems faced by the fishermen as a result of X-Press Pearl tragedy, the fuel price hike and the current COVID-19 pandemic. 
 
"We requested Cardinal to intervine in resolving these issues," he said. 
 
Asked whether the Cardinal had responded positively to the request, Kavinda said the former assured that he will make a statement regarding his stand on the issue. (Yohan Perera)
