The Samagi Jana Balawegaya ( SJB) parliamentary group which met at the Opposition Leader's office today has decided to come up with a private members Bill to scrap the 20th amendment and remove the powers of executive presidency, some of the MPs told journalists.

Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella told journalists after the meeting that the group had decided to go ahead with the no confidence motion against the government and to muster the support of few SLPP MPs to get it approved.

"Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa will meet MPs of other parties shortly to get their support. We are confident of numbers as we will try to muster the support of some SLPP MPs as well as those who have decided to become independent," Mr. Kiriella said.

MP Harshana Rajakaruna said a constitutional amendment will be brought in to scrap the powers of the President.
