Sri Lanka Cricket today said it had appointed Tharindu Perera as the new Assistant Coach for the Women's national team.
A ECB Level 4 Specialist Coach, Perera has coaching experience with Warwickshire Country Cricket Club, Adelaide Strikers, and West End Red Backs, among several other teams.
"During his stint with Warwickshire as a High Performance Coach, he has worked with its Coaching Team during the County Championship, Royal London One Day Cup, T20 Vitality Blast, and Warwickshire Academy," SLC said in a statement.
"At the Adelaide Strikers and West End Red Backs, Perera has been a support coach focusing on Batting and Spin. He has also held stints as an Assistant Coach for the England Young Lions warm-up game against Sri Lanka U19’s tour to England in 2022," the statement also read.
Perera was also the Assistant Coach for the Adelaide University District Premier Women’s Squad and served as head coach for the Yorkshire County Cricket Club Women’s Team in 2019.
Perera holds a BSc Honours in Sports Coaching from the Leeds Beckett University of the UK.
He has also played domestic cricket for the SSC, the Tamil Union, and County cricket for the Northamptonshire 2nd XI.
His two-year stint with Sri Lanka Cricket commenced on July 1, 2023.
