SLC files defamation suit against Sports Minister

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said it has filed a defamation lawsuit before the Colombo District Court against Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe, seeking damages amounting to Rs. 2.4 billion.

"In response to the persistent and damaging defamatory statements made by the Minister, the SLC has taken a decisive step to protect its reputation and integrity. Therefore, on 13 November 2023, the President, Vice President and Treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket jointly filed a defamation lawsuit before the District Court on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket," the SLC said in a statement.
