SLC to hire new physio, trainer for national team

Colombo, Dec. 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is to hire a new physio and a new trainer for the national team, it is learnt. 

According to well-placed sources in Colombo, SLC is considering utilizing the services of a few local persons for the job. 

"We are considering hiring the services of athletes for the job. This will be a temporary arrangement till professionals from foreign countries are shortlisted, the source whi is aware of the process, revealed. 

"We have advertised for the various posts, and the process of shortlisting candidates and interviewing will begin," the source added. 

"The national team's physio Chris Clarke and trainer Grant Luden have resigned from their respective posts. They resigned immediately after the World Cup," the source added. 

The experienced trainer Luden was also involved with the High Performance Center (HPC). 

SLC is also looking out for coaching staff for the various teams, it is understood. 

The senior team head coach, Chris Silverwood, who is holidaying in England with his family, is likely to return soon after the Christmas holidays. 

He will be in charge of the national team for the home series against Zimbabwe. 

The visiting team will play three T-20Is and three ODIs. 

"The players have begun preparations for the bilateral  matches, and Silverwood has enough time to get his players ready," another source revealed. 

SLC's new appointee (consultant) Sanath Jayasuriya will be involved in selecting the new support staff members for the various teams and the HPC.
