The Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando announced that a special mechanism to provide fuel to the tourism industry would be unveiled today following discussions with the Ministry of Power and Energy.
Accordingly, the fuel requirements for tour operators are expected to be provided through Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots.
The detailed document of the new mechanism is expected to be circulated among tourism stakeholders today.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Chairman Priyantha Fernando noted that a district-wise breakdown of fuel requirements of tour operators will be given to the Ministry of Power and Energy during the meeting scheduled for today.
Further, the Minister noted that Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is looking at ending power interruptions for hotel establishments in the next few months.
