Colombo, Jan 12 (Daily Mirror) - Referring to the alleged lavish night party organized on a ship recently making headlines, State Minister Sanath Nishantha stated that it was only a study tour where the MPs were briefed on the ongoing development projects at the Colombo Port.

Addressing reporters, the State Minister said those who had referred to this tour as a luxurious party, are welcome to do so. However, the so-called party was held onboard two dredging vessels.

“If we had wished to throw a real party, we would have organized it on a luxurious vessel and not on a dredging vessel,” he added.

"The MPs wanted to inspect the East and West Terminals as well as monitor the progress of dredging activities in the harbour region. Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara coordinated this tour for this purpose. We did not go to the outer harbour area but were within the port area," he clarified.

"As such, it was only a study tour organized at the request of several MPs," he reiterated.
