Schoolgirl dies suddenly during Kalawana school assembly

Kalawana, March 6 (Daily Mirror) - A 13-year-old student from the Meepagama School in Kalawana died after collapsing during the school's morning assembly today.

The post mortem examination to determine the cause of her death was scheduled to take place at the Kalawana Hospital.

The girl, who was in Grade 8 and a resident of Kukulegama in Kalawana, collapsed during the assembly and was rushed to the Kalawana Base Hospital.

A hospital spokesperson said she was pronounced dead upon admission to the hospital.

It was reported that the girl's elder brother had also succumbed to epilepsy a few months ago.
