Schools in Colombo zone to close tomorrow due to rain

Colombo, October 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Education has decided to close all schools in the Colombo Education Zone tomorrow (15) due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions.

It was also decided yesterday (13) to close schools in the Gampaha and Kelaniya Education Zones.

In the meantime, due to the rains across the island, the Ministry has empowered education authorities to take decisions regarding school closures.

Accordingly, the Provincial Chief Secretary, Provincial Education Secretary or Provincial Education Director should take appropriate steps.

It is also stated that discussions are ongoing between District Disaster Management Committees and education authorities due to the current weather conditions.
