The Education Ministry has planned to conduct academic activities in schools for three days in a week in urban areas where there the schools were closed last week.
Accordingly, schools will function on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm.
These days are not considered as private holidays for teachers who were not present for teaching duties due to transport issues.
Principal of the respective schools have been given the authority to decide on the number of days where the primary sections of these schools could function.
If the teachers in those schools would be still finding it difficult to travel, the principals of those relevant schools have the authority to release them, the Ministry said.
Learning activities should continue online and teaching, assignments, or home-based activities for students who were absent during these particular days, they said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
