Second COVID-19 death reported in Sri Lanka

A 64-year-old COVID-19 infected patient died at the Negombo Hospital this evening, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to two in Sri Lanka, Director General of Health Dr Anil Jasinghe said.

He said the victim was a resident of the Kochchikade area. He had been transferred to the Negombo Hospital from a private hospital today.

Dr Jasinghe said it was today itself that the patient was tested positive for the virus.

The patient had been suffering from a long term lung disease and also suffered a heart attack, Dr Jasinghe said.
