Sierra Leonean among four arrested with cocaine in Sri Lanka

Colombo, November 06 (Daily Mirror)- Four individuals, including a Sierra Leonean national, were arrested by the police for the possession of 59 cocaine capsules weighing nearly one kilogram.

Police said a vehicle travelling from Colombo was intercepted near the Pinnaduwa entrance of the Southern Expressway, where officers discovered a parcel containing 19 cocaine capsules (277 grams) inside the car. Two suspects, aged 24 and 32, both residents of Talpe, were initially arrested.

Following further investigations by the Police Narcotics Bureau, it was revealed that the drugs had been handed over to the suspects by a foreign national in the Kollupitiya area.

The Sierra Leonean suspect, identified as a 52-year-old man, was subsequently arrested in Borella along with 40  cocaine capsules weighing 672 grams.

Police also seized USD 500 and various foreign currency notes in his possession.

Police said the PNB also arrested another suspect, a 28-year-old from Borella, with 4.7 grams of cocaine.

The Galle Harbour Police and the Police Narcotics Bureau are continuing their investigations.
