Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has sought a meeting with the International Cricket Council (ICC), to address reports that it appointed a three-member committee to probe allegations of political interference in the operation of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
In a letter addressed to ICC Chairman Grey Barclay, Ranasinghe said that while he believed in the autonomy in the administration in all sports bodies, he also expected them, as Sports Minister, to operate with transparency and in keeping with the law of the land.
In this light, the Minister had requested a meeting with the ICC after it emerged that a three-member committee headed by Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Jay Shah and including ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan, had been appointed to look into allegations of interference by the Minister in the running of SLC.
