Sri Lanka Electricity Bill to be taken up for debate in Parliament next week

Colombo, May 30 (Daily Mirror)- Party leaders decided to take up the second reading debate on the Sri Lanka Electricity Bill next week, Communications Department of Parliament said.

The decision was taken by the Committee on Parliamentary Business which met under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Accordingly, the debate will be held on June 6, 2024 from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm.

The Sri Lanka Electricity Bill includes proposed electricity sector reforms and provides for greater participation of the private sector in the power sector. 

Parliament is scheduled to meet from the 4th to 7th June.
