Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) has had its membership with Asian Rugby (AR) reinstated after Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe withdrew a gazette that had temporarily suspended SLR.
In a gazette issued on April 1 2022, former Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa temporarily suspended the SLR administration through a gazette, and appointed the then Director General of Sports Amal Edirisuriya as a Competent Authority.
Based on this gazette, AR suspended the membership of SLR, which has now been rescinded after Minister Ranasinghe withdrew the gazette earlier this week.
The Minister subsequently dissolved the SLR administration and appointed a standing committee to stabilize the sports body, which include constitutional changes to allow clubs to have voting rights.
