Batting first, in a rain-shortened match where both sides were allotted 15 overs each, Chanida Sutthiiruang top scored for Thailand with 31 not out, none of her teammates making contributions in double figures, to finish on 78 for 7.
A 54-run partnership between captain Chamari Athapaththu and Anushka Sanjeewani ensured Sri Lanka would chase down the target with relative ease, though both batters were dismissed by rising star Thipatcha Putthawong.
Harshitha Samarawickrama and Vishmi gunaratne took Sri Lanka across the line in the 11th over.
Sri Lanka will next face Pakistan Women in the first semi-final, while India will face the winner of the match between Bangladesh and Hong Kong China.
