Colombo, December 9 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 858 cases of Dengue were reported over the past eight days, indicating a notable uptick in the outbreak.

The surge in cases can be attributed to the rainy conditions and the receding floodwaters, which create more mosquito breeding sites.

As of December 08, a total of 46,385 cases have been reported for 2024, with the highest number being from the Colombo district, which stood at 11,685.

The Western Province has recorded 19,927 cases, the highest province-wise.
