State Minister recommends two-week lockdown to curb COVID spread

Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle today urged people to stay indoors for at least two weeks in order to contain the COVID virus.

She told reporters that the COVID cases and deaths were on the rise especially due to the new variant.

"The virus is rapidly spreading in the society and that's why I urge people to stay indoors for two weeks," she said.

“Asymptomatic COVID patients may be found in the community and therefore, venturing outside would expose people to the virus,” the State Minister pointed out.

Therefore, she reiterated the importance of staying indoors for at least for two weeks. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
