The sun is expected to be directly over Sri Lanka from April 5 to April 15, as a result of its apparent northward relative motion, the Department of Meteorology said today.
Accordingly, the nearest areas where the sun is overhead today are Koralawella, Ingiriya, Kiriella, Embuldeniya, Haldummulla, Rathmalwehera and Waradeniyawa at around 12:13 noon, the Department said.
Meanwhile, thundershowers are expected to occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, Central, North-Western, and North-Central Provinces and in the Mannar district during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in the above areas.
Public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
