Suspected underworld leader flees police

Well known underworld leader in Athurugiriya ‘Arjun’ today escaped the clutches of the police who were on the verge of arresting him.  

The suspect had attempted to throw a hand grenade at the police when they had tried to arrest him at his home in Seewali Road, Athurugiriya.

The suspect fled the area after he was shot on the shoulder by the police while escaping. (Irangi Edirisinghe)
