The Governor said tax payers should remain vigilant about those trying to evade payment. He said that widening of the tax base in this manner would only enable the reduction of individual tax burden.
Responding to questions about the macro-economic fundamentals, he said Sri Lanka stepped into 2023 on a positive note compared to 2022 and the country has better prospectives to be realized this year.
Asserting that Sri Lanka regained economic stability much sooner than any other country that went through similar economic crises. He cited Argentina,Zimbabwe and Lebanon as examples.
He said the country expects a growth rate of three percent this year and the inflation to stabilize at five percent.
