Three SriLankan Airlines planes that arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) were found to have technical issues.
As a result, several flights were cancelled and some were delayed, an airline official said.
The official explained that every aircraft undergoes a technical evaluation check after completing its flight. This process takes time, as necessary maintenance work is carried out on some aircraft. The three affected planes have been referred for technical maintenance, he added.
Due to this, SriLankan Airlines flight UL-123, scheduled to depart for Chennai, India, this afternoon, and flight UL-124, scheduled to arrive at Katunayake from Chennai at 10:15 p.m., have been cancelled.
Additionally, flight UL-196, expected to arrive at Katunayake from New Delhi, India, at 10:10 p.m. and the flight from Melbourne, Australia, scheduled to land at 10:20 p.m., have also been cancelled.
SriLankan Airlines has informed the affected passengers and arranged alternative flights to help them reach their destinations.
